In department of cardiac surgery following diseases are being treated.
1. Ischemic Heart Disease
- Caused by narrowing of arteries supplying blood to the heart (Atherosclerosis)
- Symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, jaw pain, epigastric pain
2. Valvular Heart Diseases
- Caused mostly by rheumatic fever or senile degeneration. The valves either get narrowed or start leaking
- Symptoms include shortness of breath, Palpitations, thromboembolism, vertigo, chest pain
3. Aortic Dissection.
- Caused by separation of layers of aorta with blood flowing in true and false lumens
- Symptoms include severe chest pain radiating to back,
4. Acute and Chronic limb ischemia

- Symptoms include palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath
6. Constrictive pericarditis
- Caused by thickening and calcification of the pericardium. (the membrane covering the heart)

- Caused by growth
- Symptoms include shortness of breath or embolisation leading to limb ischemia or stroke.

INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGY

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that focus on the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases using minimally invasive procedures.

This specialty involves techniques such as Catheterization, where this tubes(Catheters) are inserted into Blood vessels to Perform various intervention including

Angioplasty: A procedure to open narrowed or blocked blood vessels, often using a balloon and sometimes placing a Stent to keep the vessel open.
Coronary Artery Stenting: Inserting a Stent to keep coronary Arteries open after angioplasty.
Percutaneous Valve repair or replacement: Treating heart valve diseases without open-heart Surgery.
Diagnostic Catheterization: Examine heart condition through imaging techniques.

Interventional Cardiologist play a crucial role in treating condition. Like coronary artery diseases heart attacks leading to quicker recovery time compared to traditional surgical methods.

Obaid Noor Hospital (ONH) offering 24/7 services of Interventional Cardiology including Primary PCI for acute myocardial Infarctions (Heart Attack).

Cath Lab was established in 2021 in Obaid Noor Hospital.

INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (ICU)

Intensive Care Unit(ICU), which is specialized area in a hospital designed to provide comprehensive and continuous care for patient with severe or life threatening illness and injuries.

Patient requiring close monitoring and advanced medical interventions medications and specialized equipment. The staff in ICU usually includes Critical care physician, nurses, respiratory therapist and other multidisciplinary professionals trained to manage complex medical situation.

The intensive care unit at Obaid Noor Hospital provides both patients and their families with top Level care in a kind, dignified and respectful environment.

At Obaid Noor we have a 5 bedded ICU and another 3 bedded ICU, fully equipped and 24/7 available.

HIGH DEPENDENCY UNIT (HDU)

There patients require close monitoring and single organ support. Patients are admitted from the ward or “Stepped Down” from ICU to HDU. Where they continue their recovery and often stay there before being stepped down to ward Level Care.

Patients requiring close monitoring includes patients with DKA, Post OP complication, cardiogenic shock other medical or surgical patients are treated in High Dependency Unit.

Well equipped HDU, highly qualified staff under supervision of multidisciplinary consultant team (Including ICU consultant, Anesthetist, cardiologist, Medical Specialist).

CORONARY CARE UNIT (CCU)

A Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a specialized area in a hospital that provides intensive monitoring and treatment for patients with serious heart condition.

It’s equipped to handle care like heart attacks, unstable angina, anything post angioplasty, congestive cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock, myocarditis, Endocarditis and other cardiovascular diseases.

Continuous Monitoring: Patients are closely monitored with advanced equipment to track vital sign and heart activity.

Immediate Intervention: The unit is equipped to provide rapid treatment for life threatening condition.

Diagnostic and Investigation

Cardiology department in Obaid Noor Hospital provides a wide range of investigation and diagnostic tests for cardiovascular diseases.

Electrocardiogram(ECG): Measure the electrical activity of heart to identify arrhythmias, heart attacks and other conditions. ECG facility is available 24/7 in ONH emergency, OPD and all the cardiology wards.

Echocardiogram: Uses ultrasound to create images of the heart’s structure and function, assessing valve function, heart size, blood flow etc. Echocardiogram is available 24/7 in Emergency OPD and portable Echo in all cardiology wards.

Stress Test: Evaluates how the heart perform under physical stress, often using exercises or medication to increase heart rate. Stress test/Stress EG is available in OPD at all time.

Holter Monitor: A portable ECG device worn for 24-48 hours to capture heart rhythm over time. Holter Monitor is available at all time in OPD.

Chest X-rat: Provides images of heart and lungs to assess size, shape and any fluids build up. CXR is available at all times 24/7 in Emergency, OPD and portable CXR facility is also available for all wards.

CT Coronary Angiography: Non invasive imaging techniques to visualize coronary arteries and detect blockages when interventions is not suitable. CT Angio is available 24/7 at ONH.

Cardiac Catheterization: An invasive procedure when catheter is inserted into the heart to assess blood flow, pressure and obtain images of coronary arteries. Cardiac cath is available 24/7 at Obaid Noor Hospital.
